IPH Spotlight: Mark Duffy

We are excited to announce a social media series where we will spotlight all things IPH. As we were planning out our first few stories, one person kept shining through, Mark Duffy, Community Engagement Leader, SEFCU.

Many of you may recognize Mark from years of attending A Taste of Albany, IPH’s signature fundraiser. The event, with Mark’s help, raises $180,000 for programs and services assisting individuals and families who are facing or experiencing homelessness.

Mark has been involved with Taste of Albany for 8 years! For the past 6, he has served as the Event Chairperson- adding unique event elements, increased funding and introducing new friends to IPH and A Taste of Albany (thank you for that!)

We admire Mark for his creativity, energy, wit and charm. His passion for helping our team and making a difference in the lives of the people we serve is inspiring. He is the definition of a true supporter- and we are thankful that we can count on Mark all year round and especially during the planning of A Taste of Albany.

Mark, thank you for helping us navigate the challenges of A Taste of Albany this year. You have been a beam of light and positivity every day.

Agency Changes in Response to COVID-19

In light of the recent Coronavirus (COVID-19), IPH has responded to challenges to ensure uninterrupted delivery of services, all while maintaining the safety and health of our guests, staff, and community.

IPH’s doors are still open. Basic necessities like food and shelter are still in demand. IPH will continue to make sure those resources are accessible to all who need them. If someone you know is in need of support or services, please call 518-434-8021 to navigate the best course of action.

Volunteer Groups: For the time being, volunteer groups and non-essential community meetings will be suspended or postponed.

We will NOT be accepting clothing, toiletry, or household items at this time.

How you can help now:

Meal donations: In an effort to keep our guests and community members safe and healthy IPH will be moving towards a “limited-contact” method for meal donations. Until further notice, all meal donors will be greeted outside our facility and IPH Staff will be responsible for delivering the meal to the kitchen. Meals may be prepared offsite and dropped off, or catering/delivery can be arranged. Our kitchen will be utilized by IPH Staff Only and will be closed to outside volunteers. Meal donations are crucial in continuing to support our shelter and community meal programs.

For more information regarding meal donations, please email Sky at [email protected]

Financial gifts will support daily operations, increased cleaning and sanitation costs, and sustain delivery of critical services to our guests. To donate, please visit: bit.ly/donateiph

Regional Food Bank contributions keep shelves stocked at IPH facilities and ensure that ingredients for hot and healthy meals are available for all. Make a gift to our account at the Regional Food Bank by calling 518-786-3691 x244.
Our account number is 188ES.

In response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19), and for the safety and health of everyone involved, our team has made a difficult decision regarding A Taste of Albany held on May 7, 2020.

The 15th annual A Taste of Albany culinary showcase has transitioned from a physical event to a “virtual” event, giving everyone the opportunity to show support from the comfort and safety of your home. We will still feature our online auction that will go live from May 1st through our original event date of May 7th.

As we navigate this unprecedented decision, IPH and our committee members are dedicated to delivering the energy and excitement our past A Taste of Albany events brought…only this time to your home! We thank everyone for their continued understanding and support.

Although there are no longer ‘tickets’ to purchase for our physical event, all donations help to maintain the financial integrity of the event and support IPH programs.
