IPH Safe Haven Shelter Opens

On November 17, the IPH Safe Haven Shelter opened it’s doors, providing additional services for the homeless community before the start of the cold winter season.

The first year in operation, the IPH Safe Haven Shelter opens as an overnight shelter for street homeless individuals during the cold of winter.  The shelter has capacity for 19 individuals per night, providing a bed, meals, laundry services, clothing pantry, and access to case management.  The Safe Haven Shelter operates out of the Sheridan Hollow Drop-In Center, which is a daytime shelter for homeless and low-income individuals and families, providing a variety of basic needs services.  Once the Drop-In Center closes for the day, the building transitions into the Safe Haven Shelter for the overnight period.  Currently, the Safe Haven Shelter is expected to run for a six months.

Community support helps sustain the services of the Safe Haven Shelter and help save lives of individuals who would otherwise be left on the streets.  Monetary donations and collecting wish list items will help ensure the shelter can remain open for the duration of the winter season.

The IPH Safe Haven Wish List will continue to be updated as different needs arise.
