Turkish Cultural Center Donates 100 Pounds of Beef to IPH

More than 100 pounds of packaged beef was delivered to Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless (IPH) by a community partner sponsored meat drive.  Turkish Cultural Center of Albany organized a Meat Drive dedicated to the Feast of Sacrifice (Eid al Adha) in partnership with Embrace Relief Foundation.  The donation will be used to feed the individuals and families that enjoy meals provided by IPH.

Festival of Sacrifice ( Eid al Adha) is commemoration of Prophet Abraham (Peace be upon him) on a day when he was given a ram to sacrifice. Muslims are to commemorate this day by sacrificing animals such as cow, sheep and goat in memory of Abraham’s devotion. It is recommended to distribute 2/3 or the meat to the people in need.

IPH operates an Albany Emergency Shelter, which provides breakfast, lunch, and dinner for 30 guests each day and the Sheridan Hollow Drop-In Center, which serves one daily meal to approximately 35 guests. Additionally, IPH provides a Housing Program, Health & Wellness Program, Youth Program, and operates Danielle’s House, a year-round mix of emergency shelter, transitional, and permanent housing program in Amsterdam, NY.
