Good to the Last Bite!

A Taste of Albany, culinary showcase and benefit for Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless (IPH), was held on Thursday, May 1 at the New York State Museum Terrace Gallery.  The event raised a record-setting $111,000 for the organization, an increase over last year’s earnings of $102,000.  

“The funds raised during A Taste of Albany help us continue our programs and services that assist individuals and families who are homeless, low-income, or facing homelessness,” explained IPH Executive Director, Janine Robitaille.  “In just this past year, our programs have touched the lives of over 4,000 individuals, getting them closer to their goals of self-sufficiency.”

More than 500 guests attended the culinary showcase to enjoy tastes from more than 30 Capital Region restaurants and chefs.  Event highlights included a red carpet entrance, live entertainment by the Graham Tichy Trio, photo booth, complimentary caricatures, carousel rides, wine and spirit tasting, wine pull, and live and silent auctions.

Participating restaurants included: Albany Pump Station, Angelo’s 677 Prime, Barcelona Restaurant, Brown’s Brewing Co., The Cheese Traveler, The Chocolate Gecko, Druthers Brewing Company, El Mariachi, The Gingerman, Grappa ‘72, Healthy Café, Honest Weight Food Co-Op, Kate’s Cakes, The Merry Monk, Mingle, Munchies on Madison, New World Bistro Bar, The Old Daley Inn Catering Company, One Six Five, Pasta Pane Rustic Italian Bistro, Pie In the Sky Bakery Cafe and Catering, Portofino’s Italian Ristorante, Roma Foods, The Ruck, Short and Stout Tea Company, ShopRite Supermarkets, The Soul Kitchen, Sweet Sue’s, Umana Restaurant and Wine Bar, We Do Fondue, Wolf’s 1-11, and Yono’s.

Guests also enjoyed complimentary beer and wine from Brown’s Brewing Co., C.H. Evans Brewing Company Albany Pump Station, and Upstate Wine & Spirits, Co.

In addition to the culinary showcase, the event held further importance as IPH is celebrating its 30th Anniversary of addressing the needs of the homeless and low-income community.  The event featured an exhibit that demonstrated the continuum of services the agency provides today.

A Taste of Albany was presented by SEFCU with additional support from B95.5FM, Berkshire Bank, Capital Alliance of Young Professionals, CDPHP, Crisafulli Brothers, Hoffman Car Wash, Key Bank, Konica Minolta and Northco Products, Inc., the New York State Museum, Paul and Patricia Gioia, RBC Capital Markets, Tri-City Rentals, Wells Fargo, and WNYT News Channel 13.
